“The possibility of interpretation lies in the identity of the observer with the observed.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
WomanScape is thrilled to announce the release of Volume 7, our newest WS magazine – aptly named, WHAT IF? It reveals powerful truths about voices from the past and present who inspire courage and forge a path to knowledge and progress.
What happened when our featured changemakers asked “what if”, as much from an examination of conscience as they did in pursuit of noble deeds like global peace or the exploration of new ideas and innovations?
Today’s quote by Emerson – a 19th century American essayist, philosopher and poet – is a timely way to see our stories, especially in the advent of so much civil and global unrest. History shows us the power of observance – asking where we have been and how we have overcome challenges so we can better understand the world and our place in it.
So if you are asking who can I trust, what is the truth, how do I know what to believe anymore, come to WomanScape. Stop worrying and start learning from women and men who dared to do the same. Our greatest heroes are individuals with a healthy skepticism of social institutions or confines that tell women they can’t be more, do more, want more. We can and we will.
This week, we cheer Hollywood actress turned writer, Deborah Goodrich Royce. Her first book, Finding Mrs. Ford, was named one of Forbes’s Top 5 and Good Morning America’s Top 10. Deborah shared her thoughts with WS writer Lise Floris and discussed her second book Ruby Falls, also another thriller focused on identity and asking what happens when people pretend to be something they are not.
While all our articles are free online you can also enjoy all of our stories offline digitally and at home. Order our collector print edition and you’ll help support our WS Cares initiative to fund Firebirds Community Arts Center, which helps young victims of gunshot violence in Chicago.
Have a great week, believe that you control your destiny and cheers to building inspiration throughout the world, one story at a time.
