There’s a good chance you don’t know Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American to be canonized by the Catholic Church. After seeing her statue again in Santa Fe this past October, I realized how much Kateri teaches us about the soul of this nation – one I long to see again.
Changemaker, Kateri Tekakwitha
Travel back to 1656, this week on Womanscape, where we learn about Tekakwitha. Born to Algonquin-Mohawk parents on the south side of the Mohawk River in modern-day New York state, her story of faith, rejection and conversion might help you to take heart in the face of great adversity. Read her story HERE.
