This is what it looks and feels like to have your support. While this isn’t actually a photo of me sitting in Nunavut watching the majesty of the Northern Lights, although I wish my hard work along the Akshayuk Pass looked this easy, the picture does illustrate what’s in my heart.
Today’s article is an ode to all who have supported True Patriot Love, the true north compass for so many military veterans and their families and my personal journey to honor their work.
Thank you for sharing my journey via WomanScape.com Many of you subscribed to the article updates about our all-women team or followed our news-feed to share the journey. Many have also given so much financially. There are many causes and needs in the world, but you chose to support this one. Thank you!
Over the course of my grueling Arctic days trekking and long nights, I took time to look up at the bright sun or to squint at the blinding white snow. At night, I heard the whipping wind resting gratefully under the solace of my warm sleeping bag. I could see the walls of my red tent dance under the electric shadows of the night sky.
In the Inuit culture, the dance of these northern lights or charged particles is said to be the spirits of ancestors. It’s a comforting thought, believing that we are all connected and knowing energies move among us with a powerful show of force.
For everything you have given and the goodness our veterans will realize because of it, I offer my deepest thanks. This photo below is me at in the Arctic, happily thanking each of you for all you have done to help heal our Canadian Armed Forces. You are my heroes!
I hope you’ll join WomanScape this week as we bring you our latest spotlight on women and wealth – the wealth that comes from the human spirit, the self.
This coming Monday, we’ll share a special selection of follow-up stories to the Baffin expedition. We hope you’ll be so impressed you’ll want to hear more.
Sincerest thanks again for all of my women friends, especially my friend Rose. After our 20+ years of friendship, she is still one of the most selfless people I know. Rose is winning the battle against breast cancer, so this journey also salutes your strength and perseverance, Rose.
Together, we breathe, heal and live, stronger.
