There’s something sad about wrapping up the Christmas lights for another year.

It’s not because they’ll need untangling all over again or they’ll be a few more burned out bulbs than the ones I’ve hidden at the back of the tree this year.

No, I’ll miss that special feeling –  that sense of magic, wonder and beauty they reveal in the simplest of things like a candle, a tree, or a rooftop.  So move over Clark Griswold (who can forget this classic Chevy Chase role) from the movie Christmas Vacation and hello this week’s #FunFriday post.  In lieu of WomanScape’s vacation, we’re resharing photojournalist Denise Benson’s 2017 article, Newport Beach Boat Parade: A California Tradition and a timely video capturing this year’s Newport Beach Boat Parade.

Enjoy the floating lights as we “set sail” for a great weekend.  And don’t forget to follow our women changing history weekly newsletter.
