“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication.  Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”

– Gail Devers

Words to live by from Gail Devers, an American Track and Field Hall of Famer and the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Gail was no stranger to hard work and competed as a sprinter in five Olympic Games.

While our track record isn’t close to the caliber of Gail’s hard-won successes, WomanScape is bolstered by her example of perseverance and hope. It’s the same spirit that created WomanScape and our living library of women making in history.

What began nearly two years ago as one voice turned into two, and two turned into even more reached a new milestone with more than a dozen writers onboard and the publication of 100 stories last Spring.  Today marks another new juncture with our first-ever WS Boutique.

Announcing the WS Boutique

Why launch a WS Boutique called eatREADLove?  To give readers an opportunity to invest in the stories and the women we feature on WomanScape.  Our curated shopping experience revolves around women-led products and women-led businesses that we discovered, with the exception of a few additional products to round out some of the things that we think our readers will love.

We’ve made it easier for you to purchase that book written by Sylvia Acevedo, the CEO of the Girl Scouts or that Camille Claudel film or book that shares a more immersive understanding of what she suffered as Rodin’s Lover.

Over the coming months, we’ll add more edibles, more films and books to our library, and artful additions to our Love collection.  We’ll continue to search for unique products made by women and stories that help connect us to each other. When we link women in the past to women in the present something wonderful happens – we build our history and we band together.

Women will continue to innovate and break barriers in sciences, business, the arts, and politics regardless of what we do.  But why not share our successes, from Lydia Pinkham’s Vegetable compound to Margaret Knight’s invention of the paper bag. Their insights expand our understanding of culture, society, history, and expectations.

What to Expect

Going forward, as women continue to harness their creative smarts and expand their skills, their stories and innovations transform the lives of women who follow in their footprints.  Women like Claire Marin, the advertising executive turned beekeeper, and Karyn Kusama who struggled to finance her breakout films, have enlightened and changed me.

Thank you for believing in our mission and reading our stories. Together, we are better, and we can build a world that inspires change. Every Thursday, we’ll highlight a few products and share new stories about the women who made them

Weekly Highlights:

As we head into the holiday season, we have some great gift ideas for you to consider.  December is the season of light so holiday foods, special indulgences, and “enlightened” reading-related products will definitely help to nourish your body, enlighten your mind and inspire your soul.

Body delights: we recommend a Catskill Provisions breakfast. Why not plan a pancake or waffle feast with NY’s finest artisanal, organic, traceable wheat, complete with a dollop of local Catskill region maple syrup? This Grade A golden nectar has no preservatives.

With our week-long focus on women in science, it might be nice to treat yourself or someone who likes to read with a new Kindle Paperwhite Reader.

We have a promotional deal happening until Dec. 30th and love this one because it’s waterproof, much lighter, holds 2x the storage and is the thinnest version to date. With a longer battery life and a new screen, you can take this reader to the beach or hang by the pool when you’re on vacation without having to worry about the bright sunlight.  It doesn’t hurt that it’s specially priced for gifting.

And of course, what would the upcoming holidays be like without a few housewarming gifts to have on hand for those unexpected moments when you’ll need something for a party.

We can’t deny the Catskill Provision Truffles are sure to make you a most welcome guest. These handcrafted artisanal chocolates are a unique honey-infused flavor.
